Sure: i think some basic transition like the "old windows movie maker" should be the basic, like fading, mosaic, shattering, flaking, zooming in/out ..

For counter view of article the counter should be placed, with a custumizable icon near, in details of an article and in the blog list, i attach 2 files for show it better
